Filligans has been making preserves in Glenties since 1997, when they started out producing jams and chutneys from their kitchen for a Dublin craft shop. Nearly 30 years later, it’s grown into one of Donegal’s best-loved artisan food brands — though the approach hasn’t changed much. Everything is still handmade in small batches using traditional farmhouse methods, with no artificial additives, preservatives, or colourings.
The range has expanded considerably though — over 60 products now, spanning jams, marmalades, chutneys, relishes, mustards, oils, and dressings. Recipes are either passed down through family and friends or developed through good old-fashioned experimentation and taste-testing. The mustard range in particular has picked up serious recognition, with multiple Blas na hÉireann nominations and a growing following on the east coast of America.
All products are 100% natural, suitable for vegetarians, and most are vegan-friendly too. You’ll find Filligans on shelves in delis, food halls, and SuperValu stores across Donegal and beyond — a proper Donegal success story.
