Mallow Mia is a small-batch confectionery business based on a family farm in Newtowncunningham, east Donegal, just 15 minutes from both Letterkenny and Derry city. Founded in 2014 by food scientist Linda McClean, it started with a simple idea — handcrafted marshmallows made with the best ingredients, in flavours you won’t find anywhere else. Raspberry swirl, Madagascan vanilla, toasted salted caramel, elderflower and juniper, orange blossom and whiskey — “fluffy bites of happiness” as Linda herself puts it, and it’s hard to argue with that.
The range includes marshmallow boxes, luxury rocky roads made with premium Belgian chocolate, and the ever-popular toasting kits — perfect as a gift or a treat for yourself. All products are naturally gluten free and contain less sugar than standard marshmallows.
But the real magic happens in Linda’s purpose-built workshop, where visitors get to make their own. Over an hour and a half, you choose your own flavours, colours, and toppings and create your own personalised marshmallows, rocky roads, or chocolates under Linda’s expert guidance. Suitable for most ages and abilities, the experiences are perfect for birthday parties, hen parties, family days out, school groups, or corporate team days. Private bookings for four or more are available throughout the year and must be pre-booked at mallowmia.com.
