Nellie’s is the restaurant at the heart of Glenveagh National Park’s Visitor Centre, named in honour of Nellie Gallagher from Dunlewey — the legendary cook of Glenveagh Castle who began her remarkable 50-year career there in 1946, feeding some of the most distinguished guests of the era with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced food from the castle gardens, Donegal rivers, and the Atlantic.
Inspired by that same spirit, Nellie’s serves hearty homemade breakfasts, lunches, fresh bakes, and delicious drinks and treats from 9.30am to 5pm, seven days a week, with indoor seating for 100 and outdoor seating to soak up one of the most spectacular settings in Ireland. Locally sourced coffee, wholesome meals with a nod to Nellie’s classic recipes, and a warm welcome from the team make it the perfect stop before or after exploring the park, the castle gardens, and the wilds of the Derryveagh Mountains.
