Otterbank is a micro brewery based at the start/end of the Wild Atlantic Way in the Donegal border village of Muff. We focus on barrel aging, mixed and experimental fermentation, alongside a few classic beer styles.

Having been at the helm of Wexford’s YellowBelly Brewery for 7 years, the opportunity arose for our Head Brewer & founder Declan Nixon, to purchase the old Bog Hopper brewery in Muff. Timing wasn’t exactly perfect with the incoming global shut down, but we took that opportunity to source the best ex wine and spirit oak barrels and filled just over 100 casks with beer designed and brewed to be aged for up to 7 years in wood.

Alongside these premium, aged, Belgian style beers, we recently launched our first “Core” range of three releases which will be available year round.

The labels are designed by local illustrator John McDaid and take inspiration from Inishowen landmarks; Grianán Fort in Burt, the Magic Road up at Mamore Gap, and the magical Fairy Tree in Redcastle.

Alongside the brewery in Muff Declan also runs the Muff Brew School and lends a hand or two over at Errigal Brewing Company in Annagry
